The Centre for People and Organisation is a small group of social science researchers that engage with issues associated with Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management. The members have a wide range of expertise from international business and employment relations to organisational conduct and close examinations of the implications of political economy. Whilst the members have a variety of professional and academic backgrounds, they are aligned through their research approaches to the examination of the implications of governmental, management and employee activity on a local, national and global scale.
Rather than reproduce a given understanding of how the world of business, management, technology and political economy is, our work provides critical analysis of what is being accomplished, the question of ‘why things are the way they are’ in order to present cutting edge empirical and theoretical understandings of the short and long term impact of contemporary people, work and organisation.
The Centre’s research has been deemed internationally excellent and has involved work across the UK, Europe, Africa, Asia, North America and Oceania.
Current Research Themes include:
- Globalisation and International HRM: the challenges faced by multinational companies in developing and successfully operating human resource policies and practices for global staff.
- Managing Performance and Performativity: investigating factors at individual, group and organisational level, and managing the processes they can contribute towards organisational performance.
- Managing Families and Work: examining relationships between family and work across the life course.
